Littleton Murdoch conducted Operation Ringo on behalf of and in conjunction with Powys Trading Standards. It developed from a smaller operation, which Littleton Murdoch also carried out, involving a lower level local seller of counterfeit goods. The supplier to the local seller was identified and Operation Ringo commenced. The supplier was acting as a wholesaler across at least 3 counties, selling counterfeit clothing, cosmetics, footwear, handbags, watches and other items.
Littleton Murdoch worked with 2 Police forces and numerous brand holders. A warrant was executed, counterfeit goods and electronic devices seized. Over 6000 images were found on a mobile phone offering counterfeit items for sale. Thousands of messages organising the supply of products were also found. The counterfeit items related to over 90 brands.
The wholesale seller was prosecuted. His suppliers were also identified, with detailed intelligence packages passed to relevant authorities.
