We are very happy to provide individuals or team collectives to provide consultancy or any level of support with work relating to our areas of expertise.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Tackling the supply of illegal tobacco – in addition to the expertise and experience gained through working in Trading Standards and Police, Littleton Murdoch has carried out this type of work for Powys, Blaenau Gwent, Newport and Norfolk Trading Standards Services and ASH Wales. Other organisations are talking to us about helping them in their efforts in this area of work. We have also carried out work relating to the demand for illegal tobacco products.
Criminal investigations – team members have vast and varied experience of working on civil and criminal investigations, including complex organised crime cases. We can carry out all aspects of an investigation as required, from dealing with initial intelligence through to full file preparation ready for court. This includes RIPA and warrant applications, legal conferences and working with partner agencies, brand holders and other third parties, as necessary. In addition, we can pursue civil investigations under the Enterprise Act.
Surveillance – all trained surveillance operatives can provide static, vehicular and foot surveillance with camera and video footage. We will also prepare witness statements and evidence suitable for court use.
Suspect Interviewing - the team members are highly trained and qualified interviewers with a wealth of experience of interviewing suspects in voluntary and "compulsory" interviews at a variety of locations, including police stations. This includes dealing with defence solicitors, working with police, arranging bail and charging suspects.
Witness Interviewing - the team is trained, experienced and skilled in working with a wide range of witnesses in order to gain intelligence and evidence. Officers are also trained and experienced in vulnerable witness interviewing.
Intelligence and working with sources - the team is experienced in gathering, assessing, analysing and developing intelligence. We work with financial advisers and regional intelligence officers within different Police areas. Officers are trained and experienced in source handling. All work is carried out in compliance with the requirements of RIPA.
Test Purchasing - trained team members are able to carry out a range of covert test purchases (with RIPA as necessary) with live audio feed and/or recording equipment. Test purchases include counterfeit goods, unsafe consumer products, illegal tobacco and alcohol, underage sales, age verification for age restricted goods, business practices. These can be from business and residential premises.
Tackling intellectual property breaches - we undertake proactive and reactive work to establish sellers of counterfeit goods and copyright breaches (e.g. IPTV) including via the web and social media. We work with brand holders to pursue investigations and to provide evidence suitable for court use.
Doorstep crime / consumer fraud - the team uses and develops intelligence to investigate doorstep criminals and other rogue traders. Surveillance can be used to identify further victims and gather evidence of different aspects of the criminality involved.
Project and Programme Management - we have experience and expertise in leading projects and project teams, particularly in various areas of Trading Standards work. Programme management has included combatting the trade of illegal tobacco in Powys, plus a range of other programmes in Trading Standards and wider Local Authority settings.
